The Aurora Police Department is committed to excellence in law enforcement. We are dedicated to the people, traditions and diversity of our City. In order to protect life and property, prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime, the Police Department provides service with understanding, response with compassion, performance with integrity and law enforcement with vision.

The primary responsibilities of the Police Department are:

  • Prevention of Crime
  • Protection of Life and Property
  • Suppression of Criminal Activity
  • Apprehension and prosecution of offenders
  • Preservation of public peace

As the city grows, so does the level of customer service the Police Department provides to citizens. We currently have 3 Districts located in North, Central and South East Aurora. District 1, 2 and 3 act as stand alone Police Departments with in house Patrol Officers, Detectives, Traffic Officers, and PAR Officers. This allows a greater opportunity for community policing.

The front desk at District 2 is open to the public on a 24 hour basis. The city-wide non-emergency number is 303-627-3100. Our 618 sworn law enforcement officers and 136 non-sworn employees appreciate the opportunity to work with you in making Aurora a safer place to live, work, and visit.
